What to Pack When Vacationing in Mexico

Every year more and more of us are recognising the beauty that Mexico has to offer.

However, as with all distant and exotic destinations, a trip to Mexico requires a lot of organisation. Luckily, we’ve constructed a checklist of eight holiday essentials to help you on your way.

1. Sun Protection

This includes sun cream, sunglasses, a sun hat and after sun. The Mexican sun can be extremely strong with temperatures reaching over thirty degrees Celcius.

2. Swimwear

Mexico is full of beautiful beaches and wonderful resorts with enticing swimming pools. Don’t forget to pack your swimwear so you can jump straight in and cool off from the scorching sunshine.

3. Camera

Mexico guarantees a holiday to remember but whilst memories fade, digital photographs do not. Pack your camera to take home some snaps that will last for a lifetime. Mexico holidays are perfect if you want to experience exceptionally beautiful coastlines, sumptuous food, alluring sceneries and so much more! Capture all these with some great shots by mastering your camera before your trip.

4. Mosquito Spray

Particularly in coastal areas, mosquitos can be an issue so pack some deet to deter the little pests. Plug in repellents can work wonders at night time.

5. A Book

Hours can be spent relaxing on the beach or by the poolside providing you have the companion of a truly great book. Use your time wisely to broaden your knowledge or lose yourself in a wonderful story.

6. Suitable Clothing

In the summer months, you’ll get away with skimpy clothing during the day but some hotels ask that you wear long sleeves at dinner. In addition, if you plan to explore any of Mexico’s stunning scenery, pack comfortable clothing and sturdy footwear for long walks.

7. Cash and Card

It’s never wise to carry large amounts of cash on your person because it leaves you vulnerable to theft. Where possible, stick to using your credit or debit card. Remember to contact your bank before you leave so that they’re aware of your change in location.

8. Spanish Phrasebook

Within the confines of your hotel, you’ll get by using English but the locals will appreciate any effort you make to speak their native language. You’ll find some basic Spanish phrases here.

9. Basic medical kit

A basic medical kit is important no matter where you’ll travel. Your medical kit should contain medications as well as first aid supplies that may not be available in other countries such as Mexico.

A good medical kit should contain your prescribed medications (of there are any), antihistamines, diarrhea medications, etc. Don’t forget to seek medical advice if you have a pre-existing condition that requires doctor’s supervision.

Conclusion

Enjoying your Mexico getaway can be enjoyable and worthwhile if you have everything you need in the first place. With this in mind, don’t forget the commodities that were elaborated above, especially if you want to enjoy a fun-filled vacation that is one for the books.

Most importantly, ensure you take a big enough suitcase. Not only will you need to squeeze in all of the above but you’ll want to leave room to bring souvenirs home too!

Travelers are realizing Mexico is safer than portrayed in the media. Mexico is quickly going from a spring breaker’s dream to a family friendly destination. With the proper preparation and information (and a touch of Spanish) you can have an unforgettable vacation in Mexico.
