My Luxury Travel Bucket List

No matter how budget-minded you are, if someone offers you a stay in a high class luxury resort, chances are that you will probably accept it. Personally, I know that I definitely would. Staying in a place like that would be a travel experience like no other. And if I could choose the amenities and services too, I would love to have the following.

A Personal Butler

Regular room service isn’t going to cut it. How awesome would it be to have a personal butler at your disposal? Seriously, think about it. You won’t have to do anything; a butler is like the ultimate waiter. You could just lie in your bed or be relaxing near the pool, wave over your butler and ask him for a drink or snack.

A Personal Infinity Pool

Obviously this is something that just has to be available in a personalized luxury resort. Imagine swimming in a pool like that by yourself or with a loved one and enjoying romantic views of the town, city or landscape down below. I would absolutely love to go for a late-night swim in my own infinity pool. A Rotating King Size Bed

I have always wanted to spend the night in a bed like this. This is rock star material and who doesn’t want to feel like a rock star if only for a short while? I seriously don’t think that things can get more decadent than rotating king size beds.

A Private Spa

No stay in a resort is complete without the presence of a spa. During my dream stay in a luxury resort I would like to have access to a private spa, including a sauna, hot tub, pool and bar and relaxing massages. Jumping in a cool pool after a hot sauna, followed by a professional massage is like the ultimate way to relax.

Unlimited food

I don’t mean all-you-can-eat buffets like they have in cheap restaurants or fast food joints. I am talking about world-class food in vast quantities. If I am on a luxury holiday, I am going to want to enjoy – preferably local and organic – food prepared by talented chefs. Breakfast should consist of healthy foods such as cereal, fruit and yoghurt. For lunch I would like some kind of sandwich made in a creative way that surprises me. I would love to enjoy my dinner or supper in a fancy restaurant, including wine pairing, while being served by my personal butler – who of all people should know how to treat me.

Complimentary Drinks

Most resorts that offer all-inclusive packages actually do not include alcoholic beverages. Therefore I hereby request free pre-dinner cocktails, wine with my meal and fancy drinks in the bar afterwards. Afternoon poolside cocktails sound like fun as well. Additionally complimentary sodas, coffee and teas would be great too.

Planning a “special treat” holiday

When you’re planning a special treat holiday, the most important thing is to do your own independent research. Don’t get talked into something by a travel agent! Pay close attention to the amenities on offer and try to get as much of your wish list as you can. Also read the worst tripadvisor reviews (not the best ones) for the properties on your short list and decide if the issues mentioned are issues you could live with or if they’d ruin your trip.
